What is a Grey-Market Unit?
A grey-market EcoFlow is a genuine EcoFlow product that was manufactured for another market (often China, the US, or Europe) and imported outside official channels. It may even have legitimate internal components.
The problem is not the hardware. The problem is the warranty.
The Warranty Gap
EcoFlow's manufacturer warranty is tied to the point of sale. A unit sold by an unauthorized reseller is not registered in EcoFlow's warranty system. When it fails and you contact EcoFlow for support, they have no record of your purchase and no obligation to help.
This matters because lithium battery systems do fail. Cells degrade. Battery management systems develop faults. For a KES 150,000 to KES 400,000 purchase, warranty coverage is not optional.
How to Verify
Ask any seller for their EcoFlow reseller authorization documentation before you pay. An authorized reseller can provide this immediately. If they hesitate, you are not buying authorized.
